about

'Kungkaru Watjarnu' is the latest release from the Kiwirrkurra Band, recorded in Kiwirrkurra by Desert Feet Records. It's english translation is "My sister told me", and comes from the title track telling the story of a sister warning of the dangers of drug abuse.

These songs capture the band's unique style, centred around some of the catchiest desert reggae rhythms you'll ever feel, with melody hooks that will leave you singing along in one of the oldest languages on the planet!

The Kiwirrkurra Band are focussed on spreading a drug-free message, and showing the world the strength of their culture. The upbeat nature of their style captures the joy that the boys take in spreading the word!

Songs are sung in Pintupi language, and are focussed on contemporary life in the remote Western Desert of Australia.
